Eheim 2215: Impeller and axle size

I've got an Eheim 2215 and the impeller shaft broke last week. I ordered a new shaft and impeller from Ken's and got them today. I tried to install them tonight, and the impeller doesn't fit in the hole in the head and the shaft doesn't fit in the old impeller. I've verified that the parts numbers correspond to the Eheim parts listing.

Only thing I can think is that Eheim changed the sizing at some point, but that seems very odd and unlikely. So far, an Internet search doesn't yield any clues. Any suggestions?

Nope

I really don't think so. The part Ken shipped has the right number and looks like a 2217 impeller, only with 3 blades instead of 6. There are lots of threads on the Internet about putting a 2217 impeller in a 2215, so that makes me think the part Ken shipped is the standard 2215 impeller. For some reason, my 2215 needs a skinnier impeller and shaft.

Are you sure you have a 2215?

Also, there are some 2217 parts that double for 2215 and 2217 (I have some at my place).

I *THINK* I have a 2215 impeller. If I can dig it up, I'll bring it to the meeting for you to check out. It was purchased many years ago when someone convinced me that there was no way I had a 2213 and sold me the part for a 2215.

I have 3 2213s and 1 2217 and the filter in question, which is smaller than the 2217 and bigger than the 2215. Interestingly, it says 2015 on it, which I never focused on before, as I have never heard of such model.

Turns out that the 2015 is extremely rare (obsolete?), and there don't seem to be parts for it at any of the usual places. Maybe I will try the Cobalt technique of putting a submersible pump in the tank, connect to either the intake or the output.

Matt - I still have that 2213 for sale if you're interested in that at all.

Thanks. I'd actually prefer something a little bigger for this tank and want to see how the external pump idea works.
