Black Algae prob

I have black/grayish algae that keeps showing up on my glass, rocks, & now gravel. It's not the stringy black algae. It's more like a very short fuzz. Any help on how to get rid of it would be greatly appreciated. All the algae fix/remedy store bought stuff isn't having an effect. What you see only took a week/week&half to grow. The rock was white.

I think its more of a brown algae issue..as I can see a bit on the glass as well..its caused by low lighting..in any case a bristlenose pleco or two should do the job and adequate lighting .. Algae scrubbers work as well..:)

Had the same prob recently. I injected large ammounts of co2 into the water. Black algae gone in 1 week.

Caution - this will drop your ph alot.

We just gave a bunch of advice on this very same topic recently on another thread. There are a number of approaches. Maybe you can do a search for that thread?

That is odd, kill a plant with co2

I know it seems strange, but it worked. I brought it up last time I was at pristine. They said that spot treating with excel would work as well (however that is done). They said it has something to do with carbon.

Is this a african or other high ph tank? I found that my ph had creaped up pretty high when the black stuff was growing.
