Are my fish getting enough sleep?

I am wondering because I have my lights on until late at night (past 10 on most nights). My fish can't be getting enough sleep, at least not as much as they would in nature. What would be the impact on the fish? Do I need to do something about it?

If you have a planted tank, I would have some of the lights come on in the morning and then at high noon have them all come on for a few hours and then reverse it to go out around 9pm.

I think the duration of your light should be determined by the times you are home to enjoy the tanks. MHO

I think we all must have bunch of tired fish in a bad mood. :) They are definitely not getting enough sleep, no?

My fish sleep more than I do. My tank lights are on 2pm-12am. They get 14 hours of lights off, I'm usually lucky to get 6 hours of sleep.

My fish have the opposite problem they get lights on from 4pm to 11 or 12 basically when I get home from work until I go to bed. Sometimes they get lights on when I wake up until I leave for work.

May be it's not that big of deal. In the summer we get almost 15 to16 hours of daylight, so considering that, lights on from 8 to 10 or 11 is not that bad ... But in the winter we get less than 9 hours of daylight .... whatever ...
