Any small cichlids that won't eat guppies or their fry?

I am planning on doing a show tank soon, and I was thinking of getting a centerpiece cichlid for it, as well as some small colorful fish for activity in the tank (guppies).
However I want the guppies to be able to breed just to populate the tank, and I don't want the adults themselves to get eaten.
I do want to get a pair of small cichlids in there just for the parental behavior, but not sure if that'll interfere with the breeding guppies or not.

In a word? No. They might not eat adult guppies, but they will definitely eat fry. You could try something like Dicrossus filamentosus (only filamentosus, the others Dicrossus get a bit bigger). They are very small and I've kept them with shrimp quite successfully. That said, shrimp are much faster than guppies.

What about GBR's? Or would that just be worse
I haven't had rams in a long time, not sure if the german blues are as nice as bolivians, but i do know bolivians get bigger than them

I'm not sure. I thought about suggesting GBRs, but thought they might be a little more aggressive than Bolivian rams.

I don't know if they're more aggressive, but they're definitely more sensitive in terms of water quality.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a Cichlid that won’t feast on small, slower swimming fry. Most fish eat other fish pretty unashamedly.
