Any Golfers In Here?

Just wondering if there are any golfers in the CCA? I lived on a small course in Arkansas and played very regularly (5 days a week for a couple years). As we started our family I got to play less but when I moved here in 03 I was still playing quite a bit. Since moving here I haven't gotten to play much but I still love to play. I know there's some nice courses towards "the city" but I haven't gotten to play any of em yet. It'd be pretty cool if some of us CCA folks could hook up at a course some time and get a round in, maybe we could have an unofficial Annual CCA Members Golf Tournament.

So, are there any golfers up in here?

I would be down for a golf outing. When I lived in western NY we played all the time. You could find a cheap corse that doubles as a dog track or pay $25-30 to play on a half-way decent course. Unfortunately, I can't get those prices down here. lol. But golf is my heroin so if there's a date I'm in.

I'm down, but first I have to learn how to play.
How much similarities does putt putt have to real golf?

Speaking of golf, reminds me of the Robin Williams skit on golf. If you haven't seen it, youtube it. You will laugh your socks off. :D

Phil, it was an awesome skit... he's a madman!!! I saw it several yrs ago and laughed hysterically!!!

I was good at putt putt when I was a kid, to be honest it didn't help me a bit when I tried golf the first time... I putted the ball clean off the green and had to chip back on  It's definitely a lot of fun and will get in your blood quick. The only downside is it's an expensive game but it's well worth it when I can afford it.

Phil I think its pretty close lol there is a ball and club. Oh and a hole that you have to get the ball into.

Man Mike Im sorry to jack your thread Im done now!

Love to play golf, but not very good. I am definitely up for the CCA golf outing. Mike, there is a very nice and pretty cheap course near where you live called Cacapon. Robert Trent Jones Sr. design. I am sure you already know. I've played there a few times. But you are right. There are tons of nice but expensive course around here. Not enough time nor money to play all of them. Having fish as a hobby definitely doesn't help.

Funny because I was going to make this thread a couple days ago. Everyone and thier mother at work plays golf so after hearing them talk about it 24/7 I had to try it. Well now I'm hooked! I'm still a noob but I like to get my Tiger on. I'm down to play whenever.

I think that expression has a new meaning now;). A lot of people in my office play golf too. I got a used set of clubs of craigslist to practice with in case I pull a happy gilmore and start breaking stuff. I've only played once or twice, but it was fun. I don't think as many people would play if you couldn't drink on the golf course though.

Cacapon is right up the road from me, I had a tee time scheduled there once and had to cancel due to storms . I can't remember what the green fee's were but it was a good bit more than another nice course that is even closer... The Woods. I've gotta get out there and cough up the dough and finally test my game against a Robert Trent Jones course.

Reel, you're aight bro!!! Keep jackin!!!

Wil, great to hear you just took up the game. I'm not surprised you're hooked.

I say we give this thread a week or so to allow everyone the opportunity to get in on this and then we'll have to set a date and place. ;)

Fifteen years ago, I used to be able to break 100 on a fairly regular basis, and played 1-3 times a week. Haven't played in years though. Not even sure where my clubs are, LOL. Last time I played was at the public course off Rt. 100... something Pines. Seemed nice. I'd be up for trying again.

That was one of the ideas I wanted to pass through Pat. To have our very own CCA golf Tournament. Good thinking Mikey!

Golf is another one of my addictions, although I don't get to play nearly as much as I would like. With two young kids and a full work schedule during the week there just isn't much time.

I did just get back from our annual trip to Myrtle Beach with the guys from work. We played 8 rounds from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday morning. A lot of fun but it whips your butt for sure. Scores ranged from a 92 to a 104.

I'd be down for a round if the timing was right.

Oh you're on buddy. Give me a red ball and a little pencil and it's all over.

I played the other style of golf once when I was 12 I got a 219 on the first 9 holes and then we stopped.

We first have to drink a dozen beers then play.

I used to play "real golf" at Turf Valley when my parents lived there. But then I became more interested in tracking down the girl with the beer cart. The game suddenly went down hill from there.

I remember being in the cart with my mom riding thru the woods, we were having fun but the ranger guy didnt find it too amusing.

I used to be pretty good until my wife busted me messing around with a bunch of socialites. Since then it just hasn't been the same.
