Angel Fish eggs from 2 pair

I have 6 adult angel fish. For the last 3 months they have been dividing the tank into three zones. Four days ago there were eggs on plant leaves in two of the zones.

I collected as many eggs as I could and floated them in the front of the tank in a live bearer trap. The next day the trap had been upended... The larger angels moved it over 4 inches and jostled it so much that the plastic base worked free and the eggs "escaped".

Found most of the eggs back in the zones on the same plants where they started. The angels were back on guard, and highly indignant.

I then set up the livebearer trap laden with stones. After watching the angels work as a team to move and jostle it, I moved what eggs I still had to a separate 10 gallon tank with an airstone.

It sounds like those angels are very protective of their eggs! Its pretty neat to see the vast array of how different fish protect/raise their young.

Very Protective. Since they are still on guard after I removed the eggs, I assume that they hid a few.

The 1st time I removed a slate of eggs from the tanks the Angel parents jumped out of the tank onto the floor. Since that time I had to net the parents first.

The angel parents are still mad at me for removing their eggs. Every time I walk past the tank they get super defensive!

SUCCESS?! I now have some... many... too small to count... free swimming baby koi angels. Don't dare change the water as I can not tell where the little ones are.. They seem to be thriving in a 10 gal with sponge filter. How long before I can see them well enough to count them. Guestimate = more than 10.
