Trying to startup my ember tetras, peacock gudgeons, and apisto agazzizi fired red.

Just got some Panda guppies today so they’ll probably breed like crazy.

Glad to see you had success in getting the wadai going, did you have to do anything special for them?
Also how are the h.pyrrhonotus going? 😄

Nothing special with the wadai unless you want a big haul of eggs - as with any tetra, setting them up over mesh can really help preserve eggs. My largest spawn of them so far was when I had them in QT (go figure).

The pyrrhonotus have been set up a couple of times with no results. I haven't had as much time or space as I'd like to play with tetras for a variety of reasons. Pretty much every time I empty a tank to use for spawning, somebody comes home with more fish that need QT (p.s., it's usually not me).

I’m curious, what’s you general setup for spawning tetra? I’ve spawned neon tetra with in a tank with a peat substrate and DI water and had okay results, but I’d like to hear/read what you do.

I use mesh sort of arched over the bottom of a bare bottom tank. That way I can see eggs. I start with tap but do changes with RO. The eggs of neons, cardinals, and others in that genus have a period of photosensitivity. I usually have my biggest issues a few weeks post hatch, when I can't keep up with feeding and cleaning a tank with a few hundred bitty tetras. I've used stainless steel mesh and plastic canvas. The former can slice up hands and fish, the latter doesn't sink so takes a bit of work to get in place.
