Type s mortar/stucco

The "s" just stands for sand all other ingredients are the same. They add extra sand instead of larger stones. Ime it actually holds up better underwater (and above). It also gives a much smoother finish. It may take a bit longer to cure because when you mix 80lbs of concrete and 80lbs of type s, the type s will hold a bit more water.

You could also just buy straight portland cement and use whatever sand ratios you want depending on application. If its not going to be colored you could mix say...black sand to create a darker starting point. I usually use a two part sand one part portland ratio this is plenty strong for a 10 foot block wall that's partially or totally burried.

Use more water, there is almost always some fine pieces that crumble off the outermost layer. Hit it with a brush to knock off any small pieces before you put it in the tank.

Very cool keep us posted. If thebrocks are going to be big you may have to make them in increments so the center can cure. If,theyb) are much bigger 5×5×5 made all at once it could take a week or so to harden.

Nothing that big. More like small pieces to make flat shelves to add to the rocks in the tank. Rebuilt a retaining wall to the basement door and had a bag of type s left over.
