Anyone ever discussed the possibility of getting a friendly weekly game going? You know sandwiches...beer...cigars... and cards.

I hear that Dan... I think it would be fun.. we all enjoy each other's company for the most part on here. Why not enjoy taking each other's money. Heck if we could generate enough interest we could go tourney style once a month or something. Who knows let's see what kind of interest is sparked and if we have anyone who has man cave enough to host it..

I've been itching to play for so long. I'm in for sure. Haven't been able to find a crew to play with since i left Vegas.

LOL you played in Vegas huh? you are out! Next!!! Dang Zach your living room would be perfect...LOL Just kidding man but seriously maybe you have a few Air Force buddies who might be interested in a friendly get together. We could supplement CCA and AF personnel till we had enough CCA folks to carry off a game night? Hell would be good to see you again regardless.

I do like playing. I will definitely try to make it if someone hosts a game close to where I live. :)

Jeff you heading this up? If we get enough serious interest we can get nice system going that builds up to a big tourney after every 6 months or 1 year. I've got by laws printed and ready.:happy0144:

Zach if you have laws printed up go ahead and propose your system here so we can discuss it and generate more interest.. Heck we have enough "I'm ins" at this point to have a game. I think we should try to keep it as friendly as we can.. Here are a few points we should discuss and I want everyone to add suggestions or counter mine with your own again whatever we all agree to should be what we go with.

Let's talk weekly or bi weekly games at this point.

1. Flat rate buy in and then table stakes only? Buy into the game at 50 to 100 and cannot come out of pocket for more.. tourney style?

2. Out of pocket chip purchases allowed "in play"?

3. No-Limit? not too friendly here.

4. Ante, call and raise limits...

5. We need folks with dealing knowledge....to step up..

6. Hosts of poker night to up front purchase beer, sandwich stuff, chips etc... to be compensated with per pot "tax". Or BYOB and everything else you want?

7. Floating game house to house of members willing to host or one set spot?

8. Night(s) of the week best for everyone to attend?

Talk to me guys we have enough interest right now to get a game going. We could play this weekend if enough folks are agreed.

Check on the legality of that. I remember a few years ago someone who hosted a friendly tournament commenting that private games were fine assuming the whole pot is distributed. However once you touch the pot, you basically become an illegal casino.

OK let me go ahead and say this one up front.. no offense to the young folks.. but if you aren't, I don't know "legal age" this is not the night for you... I have no issue with you but this is more of an adult aged thing. Lucas I saw your "sly wink" face and assumed that meant you were kidding and "of age", if that is right cool if not and you were serious about your age then refer to the above... "zackcrack" this isnt gonna be a night you can sit in on.

Yeah good point..

well if you are out to make a profit yeah.. but this would be to cover his or her expenditures only.. I suppose we could just ante up for grub and stuff once we have a head count for the night or at the door... then ante up on "buy into the game." Again that is what this thread is for now the discussion of how we go about organizing a poker night.

Here is the social games exception for VA:

http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+18.2-334

§ 18.2-334. Exception to article; private residences.
Nothing in this article shall be construed to make it illegal to participate in a game of chance conducted in a private residence, provided such private residence is not commonly used for such games of chance and there is no operator as defined in subsection 4 of § 18.2-325.

Maryland doesn't look too friendly:
