Fin nipping or rotting?

The royal is the newest in the tank its a 220 with some oscars... If its nipping I figure thats normal since hes the newbie but if its finrot then thats a problem I want to deal with asap

I don't like nipping in my tanks and don't consider it "normal." Nipping can then lead to bigger chunks coming out and death, which is completely preventable by the fishkeeper. I'd consider pulling the plecos myself.

You can check your nitrates (as pointed out) to see if your water quality if bad but if this is the only fish showing these signs, I'd think aggression over disease (at least at this point).

Ya nitrates are non existant in this tank.. Water quality is impecable.... N im not saying im gonna let it continue jus saying that they showin dominance

nothing that would take chunks out like that... its the oscars nipping i actually saw them do it so i think ima get rid of them... i just posted another thread it has all the tank details.
