Unless you already have a couple, they'd do better in a larger group, say half a dozen. Loaches are very social. I daresay more than corydoras.

I have a group of 3 already. Was originally 7 but I had an outbreak of something a while back and lost a bunch of fish.

Sorry you lost those. Large groups of loaches are fun to watch. They really interact with each other.
