For me, i have two contenders - a male Rio Cabayo convict who would trash any tank mates, but I never kept him with anything that was a lot bigger than him. Also, a breeding pair of amphilophus labiatus were responsible for a lot of havoc in a large tank.

Murder noodles (Teleogramma brichardi), but they mostly keep the aggression within species... mostly. Also, believe it or not, male L183s are serious a**holes.
Whereas Trophues and Petrochromis are exceptionally nasty to each other, my nastiest fish was a Herotilapia buttikoferi ( also called a hornet cichlid or a zebra tilapia). It would kill anything put in the tank immediately. It drew blood on me when cleaning the tank. It was not even close to full grown either.
