Waterflow

I have 4 small green terrors in a 55 gal tank. Currently, I am running a tetratec 500 on it, but i am afraid this is too much current. I have read that these are 'river' fish which would mean they prefer a lot of current. I have also read they prefer still or slow-moving water. Could anyone help me out here?

Roughly 500gph out of the box, I believe.

yeah, 500 gph. so the water in the tank theoretically gets filtered 10X per hour.

That is quite a bit for a 55. How are the fish dealing with the flow?
