Collecting/Keeping the fishes of Costa Rica

Sam Borstein is a graduate student at University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he studies evolutionary biology in Brian O’Meara’s lab. Sam’s main research interests include the phylogenetics of cichlids, evolution of trophic specialization, and the processes that drive speciation in adaptive radiations. His research has taken him to Costa Rica three times where he has collected and researched the native cichlids. Sam is a master breeder in the GCCA and has spawned over 130 different species of cichlids, from new world to old world. He is a proud member of the GCCA and ACA.
