It's a texas cichlid (Herichthys sp.) of some kind. I don't think it's a dempsey, blue or otherwise.

I was hoping the OP could post some more pics but i tend to lean towards what Anubias said. It does look it has some Vieja in it as well as possibly Carpintis. When i first saw the pic looking at the face i immediately thought it was a Hartwegi
