Hello, my name is Will and I moved to Baltimore for work this summer and have just started a 14 gallon planted Biocube for my daughter. I have a GLA paintball CO2 regulator/solenoid with atomic diffuser, Oceanic Biocube UV sterilizer, 2 6500k 24 watt PC bulbs, Eco-complete mixed with Activ Flora black substrate. I've just planted Dwarf baby tears in hopes of a "carpet," and plan on various other plants. No fish yet, trying the "silent cycle." I would like to keep 6 cardinal tetras with a male and female german blue ram although I think this might be pushing the bio-load of this tank. I'm not adding any fish till plants are well established and tank is cycled.
I am also keeping my ear to the ground for a live food starter culture- thinking white worms.

Welcome to the forum. I think you should have good success with your set up. I find that water changes make the biggest difference in maximizing plant growth while keeping algae at bay. I never had good luck with dwarf baby tears, but I had great success with the regular size. As for your plans for fish, I don't think you will have maxed out the tank and you could certainly add a few more cardinals. I do like the idea of having a pair of dwarf cichlids and a school of one type of tetra. Really simple and beautiful.

Hey Will - Cheryl and I lived on Dega Lane - just off Edwin Raynor for the past 19 years - pretty familiar with that area - lets have a cup of coffee (or something stronger) one day and talk about fish -0
