I am waiting on the registration for vendors to open up for the Big Fish Deal for Saturday, March 14. I plan to purchase a table for that day, but will only be able to be there from 11:00 am. until 3:00 pm or until I sell out whichever comes first.

Advice of the week
120 gallon, four foot wide, or larger tanks are best for all male mixes of larger Lake Malawi Haplochromines.
A milder mix of these type of fish can include: Aristochromis Christy (Malawi Hawk), Copadichromis Azureus (Special Order), Copadichromis Kawanga (Special Order-Delicate), Copadichromis Virginals Gold (Delicate), Fossochromis Rostartus, Lethrinops Kande, Lethrinops Intermedius, Lethrinops Microstoma, Lethrinops Marginatus, Lethrinops Red Cap, Naevochromis chrysogaster, Nimbochromis Fusco, Otopharynx lithobates sulfur head, Placidochromis Milomo VC-10, Placidochromis Gissell, Protomelas Marginatus, Protomelas Pombo Rocks, Protomelas Taiwan Reef (Special Order, Delicate), Protomelas Super Red, and Protomelas Super Red OB. Most milder male Peacock cichlids will also work in this type of tank if they are 3.5” or larger. Varies that are likely to work include Benga (Maybe, but may hide color), German Red or Ruby Red (Maybe, but may hide color), Aulonocara Huseri (Midnight), Aulonocara Swallowtail, Aulonocara Maylandi Sulfur head, Aulonocara Lwanda, Aulonocara Bi-Color, aulonocara Hai Reef or Aulonocara “Chiwindi” Blue Neon, Aulonocara Red Shoulders, and Aulonocara Mdoka Flametail or Ngara Flametail.

A more aggressive mix of larger haplochromis types that should work together in a 120 gallon, four foot wide, or larger tank include: Buccochromis Heterotaenis or Nototaenia, Aristochromis Christy (Malawi Hawk) (should be able to hold its own), Champsochromis caerulus (Trout) (Special order), Chilotilapia rhoadesii, Copadichromis Chrysonotus Mumbo (White Blaze Azureus), Copadichromis Borleyi Red Fin, Copadichromis Boryei Red Fin OB, Copadichromis trewavasae “Msisi” (Fireline Mloto) (Special Order), Electrochromis hertae (Special Order), Lichnochromis acuticeps (Malawian Gar), Nimbochromis Linni (Special Order), Nimbochromis Polystigma (Special Order), Nimbochromis venustus, Pl;acidochromis Star Sapphire, Placidochromis Mdoka White Lips, and Placidochromis Jalo. Most peacock cichlids will not work in this type of tank. An exception would be Aulonocara jacobfreibergi otter point (aggressive).

Filtration and hiding places are key. I recommend filtration of at least 8 x the volume of the water in the tank per hour. 25% water changes weekly. Stacked rocks that the larger fish can swim in between are needed as well.
