Feeding myths?

I've been wondering about two things that we hear, but I doubt.

That Africans, especially from Malawa, shouldn't have bloodworms.

And that you shouldn't house fish with different dietary needs together.

Most freshwater fish eat aquatic insects, like larvae. Some which are high in protein and have bacteria, just like bloodworms.

As to the other one, you'll have vegetative matter and animal protein in most places, so fish will tend to eat both and/or go after what they're attracted to.

At least generally speaking, I don't see how it would cause too much harm for them to get some of each other's food. Especially since there's so many cross species formulas out there, like Cichlid flakes. Or Community Fish pellets.
