Anyone into native fishes? I'm about 15 minutes from the meetings place and was interested in an expedition to collect and see what we find.

I'm not sure about the permits process or if anyone even wants to take anything home.

I'd like to collect a few least killifish, but leave the rest.

    Any interested parties or thoughts?

I'm sure Bob can give you a lot of info and I think he was previously planning a trip with PVAS and the Chesapeake Killifish club, but I believe it was postponed due to high water. I'm not sure of the status, but it might have been rescheduled.

I think you have be a lot further south to find least killifish, but I could be wrong. There are some darters, dace and madtoms you can find locally though, among others. I've kept some dace that I caught in a little local stream near my house in Arlington, but they were so timid that I didn't really enjoy them much. I probably should have given them more current and some tank mates that helped them feel more secure.

Also, if you're planning to attend CatCon this fall, they've got a collecting trip planned. You'd need to sign up, but I'm sure it's a great way to meet the other native fish folks in the area as well as some out-of-towners.
