I had the same trouble with that white cichlid sand. It is just super super fine. I had trouble when i would vacuum the bottom. You hardly have to get near that stuff and it gets sucked up. I ended up adding the black tahitian moon sand to the white. I didn't really like the white sand anyway...

i've seen FTK once and tanked a half dozen times. i like the personalities of those on tanked better. on both shows though, their acting is horrible! i'm not a fan of the fake coral either.

so drew, u are saying u can just run water through carbon, like that used in HOB filters. how do u know what quantity of carbon is needed to sufficiently filter a specific volume of water? not sure if i am stating the question correctly. hopefully u have an idea of what i'm asking. :)
