I would try a product containing methylene blue. Also raise the temp of the tank to speed up the process and do extra water changes. Also, Its not really my place to say this but a 45 gallon tank hardly seems big enough for an Umbee of that size.

I have lost more fish to USPS 2nd day than I care to count. I think if you're having fish delivered its best to do overnight. Yeah, its a bit more expensive but i think its worth it.

Right now, ,my favorite cichlids are my group of Geophagus Red Tabajos. So much personality and they are really coloring up nicely. I have them in a 125 with a group of E. Carnarensis which are a close second even though not South American.

That is very nice. I'm a pastry chef or at least used to be one before becoming a Director so I must say you've got skills.

Same here Andy. My tanks are pretty heavily stocked right now so I will have to limit the amount of fish I buy. Right now I am only planning to bring back some T. Asfraci. Pretty small fish and I will have to house 6 of them in a 29 gallon for a few months until they gain some size.

LOL. now i know you all are messing with him. I currently keep, South Americans, Central Americans, Africans, Brackish, Gymno bio, and Love each one of my tanks. A few years ago It was all Central Americans. I think its nice to mix it up.

Did you happen to notice anything strange about the fish when you first saw it at the fish store? Was it gasping in anyway? Same thing happened to me a few months back. Was the fish that died being picked on in his previous tank?
