Aqueon 75 hob filter sponge

Hi I'm looking for a fish safe sponge to put on the intake of my aqueon 75 hang on the back filter to stop sand from being sucked up. Does anyone have any suggestions of one I can buy a Home Depot, lowes, target, Walmart etc. that would work?

I use Aquaclear sponges as prefilters.

A piece of Poret will also work (although not available at Home Depot)

I use a piece of the blue bonded filter with nylon thread. Wrap around the intake and tie off with thread.

I have used poret form, and the foam from a foam filter with a plug of pillow batten and cut soda bottle with pillow batten from the King of DIY Joey book. The best was the combo IMO.
