    Center brace replacement

    So I bring home my new tank last night get it set up filled it and notice the center brace is ripping apart. so I drained it back about half way and the tear closed up. What's the best way to fix it?

    Removing brace weaken tank?

    Will removing the top brace of a 55 gallon (long, I think) and then not resealing it so I can just slip it on and off, weaken the integrity of the tank?

    Should I be worried?

    Just filled a 55g, and the center brace has slightly separated (i.e., broken) away from the back edge of the top frame. Does this mean the glass is bowing, or I am in some other danger of all 55g going on the floor??? :eek:

    Wanted: Glass tops for 72" x 18" center brace tank...

    ...also for a couple of 29H tanks if anyone has some orphaned lids. Would just buy some but new ones are absurdly over-priced
