PVAS auction this weekend?
I thought I remembered seeing something about an auction during the last weekend of April. Where can I find details on the event? How is it run similar to ours? I appreciate any info. Thanks.

Not run like ours. Buyers and sellers must register. Bidders have to turn in their drivers license, because you run a tab until you are ready to leave or the auction ends. You get your license back when you pay your tab. Sellers get a check mailed to them at a later date. Pretty sure that is correct.

The PVAS spring auction is awesome. I went to it last year and really wished I would have brought more money. Its really easy to get to its like 1/4 mile off of RT66. Something for everybody, unfortunately Im going to be outof town this weekend otherwise Id be there.

Thanks for all of the info. I was going to ask about the when and where but I got all the info from the link. I'd like to get down there, but not sure if I will make it. I'd ideally have to be down in VA by 10AM. Getting up early on a weekend and driving in VA are 2 things I rarely do. Many people planning on going from our club?

Yea, the last time I went was spring of 2007 and there were hardly any African Cichlids in the Auction. I was some what disappointed, but I heard last year was pretty decent. They have great deals on Tanks.
If anyone has more details about the Auction that would be great.

I understand that there will be some very nice and very big tanks(200+ gal rumor has it). There are always plenty of interesting drygoods. Cichlids are not big with PVAS. That doesn't mean there won't be some good ones but many PVASers are borderline anti-cichlid. If you are available Sunnday and especially if you haven't gone before, I promise you won't be sorry if you go. There are always fish you never thought you would see at prices that are terrific. It is a very good and well run event.

I was thinking about going, but I'd like to know more about how the auction is run. If the auction starts at 10:00, but registration still goes until noon, will they be auctioning items that you haven't had a chance to view yet? Is there a separate staging area for items being brought in later? Does that mean you'll have to miss some of the auction if you want to view items coming in? Are items auctioned on a first come, first auctioned basis? I was at the fall auction and it was done pretty well, but they didn't take items in after the auction started. This sounds a bit shaky.
Please clue me in!
