Capital Cichlid Association 501c(7) Status

Past CCA President
Like many small, not-for-profits, a few years back, CCA fell behind in filing the paperwork to maintain its not-for-profit status and in filing its annual tax returns.

Thanks to the hard work of your volunteer Board of Directors and Treasurer, CCA received notification that our 501c(7) not-for-profit status has been reinstated, retroactive to 2011. While CCA - with the assistance of a certified public accountant - filed the paperwork to regain our status nearly a year ago, we received the official good news this week.

The other good news is that the financial impact on the club has been minimal: a couple of hundred dollars in fees to re-apply for 501c(7) status and paying for a few hours of time with our accountant.

Because of strong membership, healthy participation in CCA monthly auctions and raffles, two successful AquaMania events, and judicious financial management by the Board, the finances of CCA remain strong!

Glad this was taken care of, I remember it being an issue when I was on the board in '12. Thanks to all who helped make this happen!
