Aquatic species compatible with African cichlids

Does anyone know some other aquatic creatures that are commonly kept or successfully kept with Africans? Im thinking about adding more to my 5 foot 125G tank. Im keeping mostly medium to large cichlids with all being no smaller than 3.5/4''.

Ideas could include turtles, frogs, salamanders, or other fish species or anything really that has worked.

Thanks

I would stay away from turtles. Eventually they will try to eat your fish. Lots of folks keep synodontis catfish with africans.

Also, schooling fish that can take the beating and are large enough not to get eaten could work well: giant danios, tiger barbs, tin foil barbs (they get a bit big for a 5' tank). I've even kept robust goodeids like Ilyodon with Africans (mbuna).

Stay away from salamanders. Even the fully aquatic species like water in the 60's
