Participants Needed for Study on How People Perform Tasks During Simulated Driving — Receive $75

Westat's Transportation and Safety Research Group is seeking participants for a research study on how people perform tasks during simulated driving. Westat employees are not eligible, but friends and family may participate. Participants must be able to drive without wearing glasses. Contact lenses are acceptable.
Participants will be seated at a desk in front of a computer monitor and perform a basic car-following task using foot pedals. While performing this task, participants will be asked to do other computer tasks at the same time. Video images showing the participant's face, feet, and hand will be recorded. Participants will also wear eye-tracker glasses that will allow researchers to record where they are looking. The full session will take up to 2 1/2 hours and will take place at Westat in Rockville.

We are currently seeking participants who meet these criteria:

White males aged 18-24
White males aged 40-70
White females aged 40-54
To be eligible to participate, you must:

not wear glasses while driving;

be in good general health, with normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing; and
have a valid driver's license and drive at least 3,000 miles per year.
Sessions will take place on weekday mornings, afternoons, and early evenings. For more information or to sign up, please call Diane at 301-610-5129.
