bulb suggestions

I have used LED lights but I recently picked up a nice 4 tube T5 programable light I am going to use on my 90. I am putting tropheus in this tank so I want to encourage nice green algae growth. What are the best bulbs to use to make the fish look good and grow green algae. The tank is 24" deep.
I have never grown plants before so I need advice. Thanks

Great question! I have lots of experience growing algae, but never have done it intentionally.

I'd guess you'd want a bulb that works for plant growth, which typically means about 6500k.

I'd think you'd want your lights on a lot, like 12-14 hours a day.

I'll trade you for a shop light lol

Just leave the lights on long enough for it to start algae growth. Then put the light back on a timer then you have algae :)
My tanks all had algae problems until I got timers sooo you can give that a try

Uv and blue light make iron in the water more available to algae. Iron is the limiting nutrient for algae because it can only use free iron which normally doesn't accumulate in water

At the same time, light is light so find a light you like
