Has anyone seen this yet? I emailed the company to ask if it's aquarium/water safe. Anyone have any ideas about what to coat it with so that nothing leaches into the water?

Pond armor - clear.

Only problem with any sealant/coating is that it would have to be a textured surface for it to grip to.

They said no because it will mess with PH however coating it probably work
