Our club meeting in Feb is on aquarium photography.

We have a bunch of good photographers in the club. You'll fit right in.

I only have the D70

Oh awesome, I'll be sure to make it to the meeting!

My first dslr was the D50...and upgraded to the D200...soon I hope to upgrade to the D700 or D3 since they are full frame bodies and are just awesome.

Picked up these two little guys, kinda unique, and I don't know many who carry these guys.
I think I got two males, but it's a bit early to tell. Once some red/orange coloring starts to happen, I know my female.
And I was told not to be surprised if these two mate and a normal zebra (one color) comes out of the mix of fry.

Kind of a random shot, no lights and only camera flash,

Awesome pics!!! I gotta invest in a decent camera... course then I'll have to learn to use it...

It's not the camera, it's the person behind it :p

But if you invest in a DSLR, I'm part to Nikons but, make sure it has more than 7MB for decent high quality pictures.

Ok, I so I kinda "rescued" this peacock out of a crowded tank. Water conditions were horrible (65degree water!!!) and his color was weak.
I put him in the 75gal, but I have no idea what kinda of red peacock this is...maybe a sunburst?
The top of his head is a dark blue color.

Phil, I think it's some kind of red ruby with either bad genes or he has some parasite nagging him. That's why he's lost his color or he's been terrorized by some other Africans. He is not a happy camper.:(

I saw your Venustus and I hate to tell you this, but I think it's a female. What I've seen with these Nimbochromis is that if it's a male you'll see it early, but if it's taking this long than it's a she. Trust me, I know. I have 3 female Venustus that I thought were males too, but they never turned. This is only my opinion.

Now, the first male I had showed the yellow stripe on his head from the size of 1.5 " and colored up really nice. Last November I was in NYC on Vacation and passed through NJ and found this really neat Fish Store. In it, was with out a doubt a male Venustus with blue on his face and a yellow stripe on his head and was only 2" long. I bought him faster then you can say FORGETTABOUT IT. He is now fully colored up and what an awesome fish. He is just like a little doggy who comes up to the tank wagging his tail everytime for me to feed him. Love'm.;)

Anyways, your Red Empress looks nice, good luck.

Richard
