We are slowly finishing up moving into our new, larger facility this week, with only a few tank casualties -- someone dropped a few! We should resume normal operations next week. I haven't had time to update the website, but we did get some really cool new stuff in. Here's an availability list.

The first number is an approximation of how many, total, are available, and the second is the price, per each (or as indicated).

Apisto. panduro, Adults 4 $60 Per Pair
Very nice! These are an unusual Apistogramma where the females are almost as beautiful as the males. Easy to breed and very hardy.

Apisto. nijsseni, QUAD (MFFF) 1 $125

Apisto. viejita "Rio Meta" 2 Trios $100 Per TRIO

Double Red agassizi 4 $15 each
Three males and one female available, all 4 for $45.

Ancistrus sp. "Basic Bushy Nose" 25 $6 3 for $15
The basic aquarium bushy nose, brown, either locally bred (usually) or farm raised. These are the ideal algae eating pleco. If you're still buying regular ol' "plecos," Batfish will have words for you. The BNP gets to a maximum size of about 4", perfect for most tanks, breeds easily, looks cool and ... best of all ... it ... eats ... brown ... algae. The type most of us have in the aquarium. Great algae eaters.

Cyprinids (Barbs, Danios, Rasboras, etc).

Dracula Danionella 50 $5 6 for $25, 12 for $45
Super unusual micro fish. These guys max out at about the same size as a baby swordtail. They're actually cyprinids, but the males apparently possess tiny teeth that they use to spar with one another, like walruses. I think Walrus Danio is a cooler name. Will eat finely ground flakes, microworms, and other small foods. Best in a species only tank. Please note, these guys are super tiny, and we are not going to count them precisely. Actual numbers received will be close to and probably higher than what you order.

White Crawfish 2 $10

Cambarellus “Vasquez†4 $12 3 for $30

We have been asking around trying to get a positive ID on these craws. They're not particularly big, don't seem to bother fish, and haven't destroyed our plants. Buy one and tell us what it is!

All Other Animals

Fire Newts 3 $6 Mostly aquatic newt. Bright red bellies. Will eat small fish.

Iberian Ribbed Newt 3 $30 3 for $75
Juveniles of this uncommon, very big, very cool newt. Mostly aquatic, very slow -- tends to leave fish alone.

COLLECTOR SPECIALS and LONELY HEARTS
These are extremely unusual fish, one of a kind fish, or fish that are ideal for dedicated breeders, as well as “Lonely Hearts.†Please only order these fish if you are willing and able to breed them, and/or have mates for these “lonely hearts.â€

Montezuma Swordtails 1M 3F $20

Guinacara sp. Undescribed, F1 1 Group $50 5 fishes, about 2"

Moenkhausia spp. Small school (about six fish) $80
These are an unknown species of Moenkhausia, that if I had to guess was M. simulata. They remind me a lot of congo tetras. There are five or six fish in the tank (hey, they're fast!). The entire group is available for $80 IF and only IF you are an experienced tetra breeder. This is a super cool fish that I want to see represented in the hobby.

Frontosa Three $50
Frontosa var "Burundi". Good size and colour, about 4"

Giant Marbled Achara Cat 1 $150
Super huge, at about 24". Will ONLY ship airport to airport or UPS overnight. Local pickup or delivery preferred. Please tell me what size tank you have for this beast.

Cichlasoma amazona 1 GROUP $100
Small group of Cichlasoma amazona, personal fish that I've had for about 3 years. Surely one of the most beautiful plain brown fish out there. Four individuals, mix of sizes, I think two pairs.

Cichlasoma sp. "La Palma" 1 GROUP $75
If you thought the last group of fish was cool, check out this group of plain brown cichlids. Very rare, possibly undescribed species of Cichlasoma. Three individuals, about 4". Look to be ALL MALE. That's right, you can have a non breeding group of this super rare cichlid, thereby ensuring that it stays rare!

Cichlasoma dimerus "Belle Union" 4 All 4 for $35
And continuing our theme of plain brown Acaras.... But this group contains males and females. Probably. Juveniles at about 2".

Hypsophrys nicaraguensis 1 PAIR $50
These are near fully grown adults, starting to colour, and my personal fish. They won't spawn for me, but they're definitely a male and a female, and compatible. You try it

Precision pays

I prefer certainty when spending money on house guests, but if that's what they are I'd like 20.

Nah, house guests drink all your beer. These guys just eat your fish food.

The Blue Tetras used to be Boehlkea fredcochui, but scientists recently decided that the fish we've all been calling B. fred. is not, indeed such, but a previously undescribed fish, which they then went on to describe as Knodus borkii. So, if you google Boehlkea fredcochui, all the fish you see pictures of are (probably) K. borkii. The real B . fredcochui, it turns out, has probably never been seen in the hobby.

Had the pleasure of dropping by "The Batfish Cave" after work on Thurs... and Josh has some great fish in stock - really a little something for everyone, especially hobbyists!

I got some chanchitos and a group of Montezuma swords.

I'd encourage folks to check out his list... Google or ask him if you don't know what stuff is.. and get some fish from him. Try something new. You don't have to pay shipping and you can score some great fish that you won't find at an LFS (at triple the price)!

Would love to stop by before or after the next meeting if there's another open house. Heck, I'd stop by before EVERY meeting - I love looking at fish.

+2 My daughter and I would love to stop by again. Me for the L270s but her to look at fish with flashlights! Not too much out there better than that for a 2 year old. Well, until she finds the puddle in front of the shop to stomp and splash in. The fish always lose to the puddle. Oh to be 2!!!!
