Tank stats

I just have my old 37 gallon running with filter and water in the basement. No livestock. The most recent test show 8.2 PH, 0.25 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, and 40 Nitrates. What does these results say about the tank and beneficial bacteria if any?

How long has it been without fish? Ammonia should be 0 if there is a BB culture active.

It's been without fish for at least two months. During that time the entire filter sat around in a bucket with water for a couple of weeks.

I'd go thru the cycle process and ensure you have bb getting rid of Ammonia consistently.

I'd be happy to hook you up with some seeded ceramic rings or bio balls all I would ask is for you to replace what you take with different ones of same type
