Tangled Up In Cichlids Pre-Order for Delivery to The Big Fish Deal

jonclark96

Past CCA President
Hey folks:

As many of you know, Jeff Rapps with Tangled Up In Cichlids will be coming down to The Big Fish Deal in a couple weeks. Jeff continues to be a great supporter of the event and the CCA, and has graciously offered to accept pre-orders for delivery to The BFD.

You can see Jeff's current stock list on his website, http://www.tangledupincichlids.com/stock.html

Here's how it works:

1. You look at Jeff's list and all of the awesome fish he has available.
2. Make a list of all the fish you want, then revise it when you realize you don't have enough space for all the cool stuff he's got.
3. Contact Jeff directly to set up your order. Deal with Jeff directly on what you want, payments, etc.
4. Jeff will bring fish with him to The Big Fish Deal. You pick up fish from Jeff when he arrives on Friday.

Please note that this offer is available only to registered attendees of The Big Fish Deal. Please do not ask Jeff to make other arrangements.

Let me know if you have questions.

Jon

Don't we all need a couple more 6' tanks!

Forgot that I also order a male "Rio Animas" convict. Female of my pair offed the prior one!

Matt

Good stuff.

I've got my eye on a couple of species, just need to figure out if I have long term space to keep them.

Man, I wish I had a couple more 6 foot tanks...

Greetings to all the great CCA folks.

Kate, my wife, and I are thrilled to be included once again in the BFD weekend event.

I am very thankful to Jon as he kindly began this thread for pre-orders of fish from TUIC.

I'd like to officially begin accepting fish pre-orders on Friday the 26th which is one week before the BFD.

In the interim, I welcome inquiries anytime at jeff.tuic@gmail.com or you may call my desk directly at 908-387-9858 (best between 9 am - 2 pm weekdays) with any questions.

Because the event is still 3 1/2 weeks away, I can't guarantee that each and every fish I have posted on the stock list at my web page today will still be available then. In fact, there are several more import orders for which I am communicating with exporters and fisherman that are due to arrive in the next weeks! That said, I will try to revisit this thread upon arrival of new imports and provide some updates on these items.

I wish I could simply reserve items on a shelf like layaway shoes or something, but do to the nature of the product, long-term reservation of fish already in short supply may not always be entirely feasible.
Many fish come and go from my facility on a weekly basis. I tend to move fish stock (particularly those in low quantity) to condense and provide space for new imports, spawns, etc.

A very good example would be straight from a post on this thread by Carl. He kindly emailed me inquiring of stock on dwarf pike cichlids.
I explained to him that I have only two pair in a tank as of today.
In a case like this, I recommended that he please consider the option of having the fish shipped to him while they are still available.

To send a small styro box via FedEx next day AM delivery to the greater DC area costs only in upper 20s to low 30s.
So if Carl, for example, really wants to add these particular fish to his collection, I offered him the option of having them shipped out this week so that he is ensured to get them.

To finish up, I'd like to just reiterate Jon's instructions on fish pre-ordering.

I will personally select and pack each individual's pre-ordered fish to bring with me on Friday. I label the bags with purchaser's names and keep them in heat-packed styro shipping boxes. This way they are readily available to exchange for payment when you come by our tables.

We usually arrive late afternoon/early evening - although I always have all good intentions of arriving sooner to beat the Baltimore traffic.

Pick up of your pre-orders on Friday evening is ideal, but may not be entirely feasible for everyone. I completely understand this and don't wish to discriminate or exclude anyone who can't come by the event until Saturday.

Under most circumstances, I will keep the pre-ordered fish separate from the fish I will bring to stock display tanks at my tables.

Suffice to say that I don't tend to bring much in the way of larger fish as they are not conducive to display in smaller tanks.
If anyone wishes to pre-order larger fish from my stock list, that's perfectly fine by me.
They'll be right inside a heated styro box when you come by to pick up fish.

As for what I will bring to offer directly from the tanks I set up, I usually have no idea until about a day before the event - or that morning when I'm picking and bagging fish!

There will be plenty of fancy plecos as I well know that BFD attendees really enjoy them.

Please don't hesitate to come by our tables to say hello and check out the fish - even if you have no intention of buying anything. This is a really fun event with lots of fish and related goodies to check out.

Cheers, jeff

Jeff also has 3 cichlids from the C.A.R.E.S. list available at the moment:

Amphilophus lyonsi
Cryptoheros myrnae
Cryptoheros nanoluteus

That I could see so far :) I've been wanting to breed C.A.R.E.S species and I may take this opportunity to try to breed some Cryptoheros myrnae.
