Stopped at a store today and for the first time saw "apache peacocks" looked similar to maylandi but some had a blaze that started more orange by their mouth and turned yellow. Very dark with a blueish tint. Cant find much on them. Is this a hybrid maylandi type or an actual species? Very nice fish just not to consistant with other maylandi I have seen. Almost like a spilotonus/maylandi cross. Anyone have any info on these guys? Is it a variant of maylandi that I may be unfamiliar with or a hybrid that people try to lump into the maylandi group? Any info would help, if this isnt a hybrid he may look very nice in my tank, gorgeous bright blaze from mouth to tail against a very dark body. Shape is similar to maylandi but not exact.
