Red spots on JD tails

I was looking at my JD juvis today and noticed that some of them are developing red spots on their tails. Its not illness, the spots are evenly spaced and match the iridescent spot pattern. I only see it on a few of them. I did a google search and came up with nothing. Possibly just a development stage or something?

Can't see that being possible. Neither parents had these spots. Both Parents were from reputable fish stores (female from Wallys (RIP) - male from an LFS is Dallas). dankdabe has the parents now and he can tell you that they don't have them. I am wondering if it just a stage in development.

Got an answer from Jeff Rapps.

No worries. The red spots may be the first to show, while blue spots will appear later. The attached photos both include fish with alternating red/blue on caudal fin.
It’s easier to see on the wild dempsey taken in a cenote in Mexico.
