125 stocking

I'm stepping up to a 6 ft tank soon and I've been set on a 180 but I'm thinking for a while that a 125 may be more manageable given the space that I have now and the fact that were moving into a new house within a year. I will be moving my GT over to the 125 and want to add some more fish of course.

What would be some of the better tank mates for a male GT in a 125? I don't want to go crazy on aggression with the tank but the GT is a bit of a terror so they need to be tough. I'm looking for an all cichlid tank and maybe a cat. All ideas are welcome I'm interested to hear what you guys think for a medium tank like a 125.

So far I'm thinking
1x Male GT
1x Chocolate
A few severums
A few A. Heckelii
not sure if that would be fully stocked or not.

The 125 does provide lower water height which is easier for light to penetrate through. Also gives you a nice view to aquascape with it being so wide and not as tall.
