Extended Pre Order for September Meeting

JLW

CCA Members
Hey guys,

I'm going down to the Raleigh Aquarium Society's meeting the day after CCA, and as such, I'll be able to extend the pre order a little bit -- since I need to do it for them. :) There's not much extra time, but if you missed out ...

There are a few different / new items on here, too (as it is a different list. :)

This would be for pick up at CCA meeting -- I won't make you get the fish in Raleigh. :)

Here it is:

This is a copy of the PRE ORDER LIST. The pre-order list differs from my in stock list that you can find at BatfishAquatics.com/Freshwater.php. I've put a detailed explanation of that at the bottom of this message.

The cut off for pre orders is WEDNESDAY 3 September at 3 PM. Order quickly! Fish are given on a first come, first serve basis. In order to secure these fish, you must make a 50% deposit via PayPal to BatfishAquatics@gmail.com. See the bottom for full details.

A couple of really cool fish that I want to call your attention to. First and foremost, I have on here the beautiful Friendly Puffer, Colomessus asellus. This is an unusual puffer that bears a striking resemblance to the "Figure Eight" puffers you're familiar with, but with better colouration. It is NOT a brackish water fish, but occurs in the Amazon River system. As such, it will do better at a neutral pH. More unusual, this puffer forms big schools in the wild, and does better in a small group. They are invertebrate eaters (shrimp, bugs, snails, etc.), and will NOT bother fish. Unlike most puffers who are just plain jerks, these guys are, well, uh, friendly.

If you are into West African fish, take a good look at this list for some really awesome wild caught fish. Order them now. If you haven't been following the news, Ebola is becoming a huge scare in that area of the world, and we may see fish exports essentially vanish. In other words, if you've been thinking about some wild Pelvicachromis, bite the bullet and get them now. You might not be able to find these fish in a year.

Several years ago, I was struck by an incredibly cool, black and white fish in a friend's tank. He had discovered and collected this fish in Southeast Asia, and brought back a couple dozen. I was fortunate that he gave me a half dozen, and they were just an incredibly striking, active fish. Several months later, I saw these "Panda Loaches" on a sales list, and had to have them -- they quickly added to my group. They weren't cheap then. I think I paid about $80 a pop for them. Times, they are a changin'. They're less than a third of that now, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to offer them at a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE price. There's a minimum purchase of 3 of these guys, so you'll get 6 of them for less than I paid for one 3 years ago! :) These are just a really cool little loach, and that price cannot be beat.

These fish are available from some of our great suppliers. You may order from this list to get in on these great prices, and help fill up the supplier order. You must order before the cut-off date. In order to secure these fish, you must make a 50% deposit via PayPal to BatfishAquatics@gmail.com by WEDNESDAY 3 September at 3 PM. The balance is due when the fish are delivered. You may pay in full in advance, if that's easier for you.

Generally, fish on this list are at least 10-25% below our usual retail cost. This is an incentive to pre-order these fish, and help us "fill the boxes" from the wholesalers. Additionally, it allows us to offer fish that we'll probably never keep on hand, because we have a guaranteed customer in mind.

Please note that I am not looking at these fish, and have not seen them. I can only give you a guestimate of size. I cannot provide you with photos (use google images). I am not picking these fish, and cannot guarantee that you'll get a "really nice male," or "one that has a lot of blue on him." I can pass on reasonable requests, but make no promises, or guarantees. If you are specifically looking for a special request regarding a fish on this list (e.g., you really need a female XL Jurupari), please let me know -- I may be able to order a bunch of them and help you get exactly what you want.

In the event that a fish you order does not arrive, you will be refunded any deposit immediately, or may apply it to another fish purchase. If only some of the fish you ordered do not arrive, the partial deposit will be applied to the outstanding balance. In the event that any fish you ordered arrives in an unacceptable condition, including much smaller than expected, not as described, or other reasonable problem, you will be refunded for them -- this very, very rarely happens (this excludes any "special requests; if you ask for a male and get a female... well, you took a chance!). Please keep in mind, however, that wholesalers use the same rulers as fishermen. A 3" fish may not quite be three inches. :)

You are responsible for picking up fish as agreed. Any fish not picked up as agreed upon will void their deposit. (Hey, if something real comes up, and you can't make it, that's fine -- but please don't leave me holding your fish indefinitely).

Lastly, please note that the minimum quantities on fish above are enforced by the supplier, not by me. I really don't care. If you and eleven friends each want to order a Mickey Mouse Platy, that's fine by me -- I just need a TOTAL of the minimum quantity. Let me know, and I will bag them separately for you -- you won't have to split them at a meeting!
