Hello, everyone just wanted to say hi. And introduce myself CTFishman. I have been into Cichlids for about 12yrs. All Malawi, But I have just received my fist shipment of lake Victorian cichlid Mbipi cf. Lutea Yala Swamp "Crossbar" 6 juvies from Daves Rare fish. Thanks Dave. I also have on order with Cichlids are Special ,Zebra Obliquedens and Paralabidochromis Chromogynos Black Piebald. I'm just waiting for this crazy up North weather to heat up a bit so Jay can ship out to me can't wait. I'm keeping the Mbipi in a single species 37gal. And the Zebra Obliquedens and Black Pie Bald in a 75gal. Two species tank, when I get them. I will post pics and videos soon.

Hi, guys I have a question to ask. As I stated before been into malawi cichlids for years and just swithed to victorians. I have a 75gal. With just Zebra Obliquedens 1m 5-6inc. 1f4-5inch and 2f 2-3inches. I was gonna put my Paralabidochromis Chromogynos Black Pie Bald from Cichlids Are Special Thanks Jay. But there too small. I was wondering what other Victorian can coexsist with the Zebra Obliquedens and not Hyberdize? Thanks.

That's a very hard question. I believe the reason no one has answered it is because we need more info. Most victorians can hybridize especially the haplochromine species. I'm no victorian expert, not by a long shot so take this with a grain of salt. If you combine two mouth brooding species you have a risk of hybridization. A lot of the victorian species are hard to correctly ID and thus inexperienced hobbyists breed two different species believing they are the same. All this confusion makes it very hard to know what you have and where it came from. Generally speaking any two fish with the same reproduction methods can hybridize. There are some exceptions and just because they can doesn't necessarily mean they will. Hope this helps, I'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong
