I'm running for VP again!

Posted 09-23-2010 at 11:48 AM by SubMariner

As of today, the Capital Cichlid Association is on a path to host its 1st American Cichlid Association Convention in our Nation’s Capital. As your Vice President and Membership Chair, I am so very proud of our collective and how it has grown not only in size, but in diversity.

Therefore, being a CCA member is no longer a life style, it’s an attitude. It is a part of a family of friends, colleagues, brotherhood and fellowship like no other. Every monthly meeting feels like a Mini Annual

Finally, a place

Posted 04-29-2010 at 7:58 AM by JustRon (Starting a New Fishroom)

So, after much deliberation, a hard winter with lots of snow, and the desire to have some fish, I am placing my future fish tanks into the Cabin.

By doing this I can at least be sure to:
1. Not have carpet
2. Have plenty of radiant heat
3. Have plenty of air and air movement
4. Have plenty of electric

Bad:
1. Walking down multiple times a day
2. Not having the tanks to view in normal daily life
3. Might get too many tanks

Picking the fish

I think I am lucky with the water I have, but after I test it I will know better what to keep.

Later that day....adding to my earlier info.

I have not moved, but the water parameters...

New Space

I am trying to determine what I can do with my current space in the basement. I have a single room, finished, with berber carpet. Yeah, I know, carpeted..... None of that is really making me jump for joy as I have been in the lovely position of having a more commercial environment before where just a cement floor and very unfinished stands, etc. did fit into my plans.

Size:
The room is 16' in length and about 11'6" in width.

Room:
Standard Drywall, low...

Meeting Potential Mates

Posted 05-13-2009 at 10:08 PM by Lively (Keeping Fish...)

Day one was really this past Friday (May 8, 2009) when I received six two to three inch gorgeous Electric Blue Jack Dempsey’s from Jeff Rapps. When they arrived, I put them in my 15 gallon with some regular Dempsey grow outs I had – little ones ranging from ½ - ¾ inches – for quarantine. They immediately found places to hide, not that there were many in a bare bottom tank with one piece of floating wood and a couple of those fake little bushy plants. Within a hour they were hanging out and exploring....
