Both of these fish are best kept in harems, not pairs. Really a 20 gallon is best for both of these species and not in the same tank.

Neat little pocket rocket, though. I was zipping in and out of traffic on 95, went to get a quick bite to eat before the meeting but then got lost. MY brand new GPS does not work and I got lost. I missed my way on 198 and then made another wrong turn.
Next thing I know I am making a turn and the GPS says "Five miles down the road"...and I realized I found my way back to Layhill.

Pretty sure he was out of those before the announcement was made about the group order. Neat fish... one of the few predator haps (available in the hobby) that stays on the small side (8" +/- males).

I'd do the noraml 5-6 to try and get a pair. Not an easy fish to pair off... so you can't just put a male and female together and get fry ;)

I thought this was Baltimore shipment vs. Philly shipment, not CCA vs. ECC. Most CCA people on the order are also ECC members, but most ECC people are not CCA members:wacko::confused:

I was more poking fun at the fact that they had to resort to skewing the "results" to give them a chance at a larger order.

I agree that its great that ECC and CCA cooperate. We probably would have only gotten a 10% discount if we did separate orders, but combining the order gave a us a 20% discount no problem. Its definitely nice that we are close enough together to be able to combine certain events. I'd be happy to see more folks down at meetings.

Definitely a friendly competition. We just want to have bragging rights. Getting top quality fish at a discounted price makes it even better! The person that benefits the most from our competition is Dave. The more we try to outcompete each other, the more money we send to Dave. You know how we really feel about ECC:love0001:

That is exaclty the whole point... to help Dave. In general to help a great member in the hobby. Plus he just had a child in the last year ... so it helps a little one too :) Helping a hobby member, such as Dave, in the end helps the entire hobby. Even though Dave does sell fish, if you have ever talked with him you would realize he is a hobbyist at heart.

Many of these online sites that we have group buys with need help... through talking with most of them.... the economy isn't helping things.

Yes, we also get a discount... so it helps all the members too:)

Some airlines I hate... they make you actually go into the terminal errrrrrrrrrrrr. With so many boxes that would be a nightmare ! Southwest is an ease to deal with :) If I ask, they will even load up my car for me... they usually do with no hassle :)

Its not a problem, just unfortunate timing. As Caleb and Tony mentioned there will be more group buys in the future. There are also many other club sponsors that you can order from anytime. The club has many resources that you can get more familiar with soon. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There are many people here that can try to help locate certain fish or help answer questions about specific fish.

I spoke to Dave late Wednesday afternoon and he informed me that the Philly ordered was trounced by the BWI order.
Hopefully those who ordered are able to help Sarah in any way possible, she is going to have her hands full with this delivery.

If you're coming to the meeting, you should get some extra cash out for the auction and raffle. Members bring some nice stuff for the auction, and theres usually nice donations for the raffle.

Actually ordering was closed on Wednesday as posted here and on ECC several times.
A lot of time had to be given to Dave to be able to fill both orders.
Sarah and I decided to have the flights go out on separate days because of the volume of orders that Dave received for both Airports.

As for BWI beating the crap out of Philly...
All of this is a "win-win". The Hobbyists here gained by getting a huge discount and splitting shipping, and a retailer gained by making a nice number for the month. Dave Schumacher is one of the absolute best people in the industry and he, his wife and 6 month old son all benefit from the butt-kicking that BWI gave Philly.

One little statistic:
All of the fish that are going to Philly are for ECC members.
All of the fish, except for one order, going to BWI are for CCA members.

BWI, as said, ordered more than Philly.
Just a quick note, ECC is not a club...it's a website/forum.
Most people who ordered are both CCA Club Members and Members of EastCoastCichlids.org.

Eventhough BWI ordered more than Philly, the cost of each fish is different and that could have a different outcome. It would be net to know how many fish were sold/ordered. We could have a contest where we guess how many fish were ordered. It would be like guessing how many jelly beans are in the jar. I remember that in elementary school. I didn't win. :(
Not like I needed 5302 jelly beans, But I did when I was in 3rd grade. :)

The big difference between the orders was actually the size of the fish. About the same amount of people participated on both orders.

This was a very large order.... twice what it was last year.
