Only 2 days left, and I haven't seen this thread started yet. It seems like there will be a LOT of people at this meeting, so hopefully theres a nice variety of items. Besides the box exchange and the donated box from Atlantis, what are you bringing? I'll be bringing a few male peacocks of assorted strains, a few books, and maybe some yelow lab fry.

Plus I think there may be a few donations from the guys coming down from East Coast Cichlid forum.
When you say fry, please remember the size requirement in the rules.
I got a few compaints last month on fish sizes.
Okay, I am bringing :
Most of the food, the raffle stuff, the books, some shirts, what else, Hmm

Do we know what is in the box we are receiving from the exchange? How about the donated box from Atlantis? I loved knowing some of the that were going to be available in the auction beforehand last time. People also may bring more money if they know there is going to be stuff they know they like there.

Cryptoheros Cutteri Juvies also.

Do you include plants at your auctions? (aquatic plants of course)
Pat Kelly
05-07-2009, 4:00 PM
Yes, there are usually plants there too.
Lots of us belong to GWAPA as well.
I just can't pronounce the names during the auction so it's a green thing.
(course I cant pronounce fish names either)

Also a female Otopharynx Lithobates ( Yellow Blaze) and couple of other surprises...

the mechanics of the meeting and mini-auction to me? A neighbor, knowing that I needed some aquarium equipment, recommended that I attend Saturday's meeting, and I'd like to attend (if I can squeeze in time between ferrying my kids to various events).
Are all transactions part of the mini-auction? Or are there other transactions going on outside of the auction?

Pardon the newbie question, but a neighbor recommended the mini auction to me, as a chance to buy additional aquarium equipment at a reasonable price.
Are all transactions at Saturday's meeting conducted through the mini auction or is the mini auction just part of the opportunity to buy and sell equipment, fish, etc.?
dogofwar
05-08-2009, 12:31 PM
Both - some people make arrangements to buy and sell fish, equipment, etc. directly (and use the monthly meeting as a link-up opportunity)...and each meeting has an auction, where people buy and sell stuff (through the auction).

There are several thing here.
The meeting is the monthly get together of the club members where we discuss our mutual love. No not cars, fish. lol.
Most meetings start with the Prez giving some basic information about the happenings of the club. We do not spend a lot of time on club business. Then the speaker is introduced. Most months we try to have an informative and fun speaker talking about some aspect of the hobby. From specific fish, to collecting trips, or fish disease or taking pictures of your fish.
After this portion which is around 1 to 1 1/2 hours we take a break to look and talk.
Then we pull numbers for the raffle followed by the mini auction. The mini auction is just like an all day fish auction except a lot smaller.
A few years back it was like 2 or 3 bags. Now days it is closer to 100 to 150 items each month.
There are people that sell things on their own but they usually make the arangements to bring the items in advance on the forum.

Ad is here.
Now one problem.
I always forget how soft spoken he is.
Does anyone have access to a PA system for today.
One that helps some.
Last month was hard and he is even more softspoken.
I think Kurt has an old one he mentioned about brining but not sure if he is.
