Since you live in Maryland, you will be breaking the law if you acquire another snakehead.

The ban has not been placed in afect. Pluss i no a personal breeder and i wouldnt be goin threw a local fish store to get it. But lets not get into that. You couldnt even say wellcome to the board?

Hi! You have to forgive our liberal friend, they feel that "the goverment" needs to regulate everything we do. Fortunatly the state has backed off and are only going to ban the northern snakehead and not the tropical versions, so having tropical snakeheads will not be illegal at lease for now. Pet raccoon, very cool!
Welcome,
Daniel

Which is what I had hoped would happen. Only the two subspecies of C. Argus should be regulated.

It's too bad that some folks feel the need to slap "liberal" or other label on anyone they disagree with.

Breeding Gachuas isn't the easiest thing in the world, I am sure I know where you got them from, since I have dealt with the same breeder in the past, great guy, great fish. You won't be able to sex them at the size you are obtaining them at, purchase a couple more and let them grow out, and form pairs. You need to do this in a relatively large tanks with lots of rockwork and/or hiding spaces. Keep in mind, even if you can sex a young male and a young female, there is no guarantee they will pair. As for breeding them, lots of darkness, black water, clean water, constant food.
