Ohio Cichlid Association Extravaganza

I know its early in the year but I like to plan early.

The OCA show it on November 20th - 22 2009

This is the one that is the most fun for me. This year, 40+ hotel rooms with people selling out of the rooms.

It is also the cheapest around. Its like $65.00 per night for the room and $35.00 will get you registration, a t-shirt, and the pizza banquet. Heck you usually pay that much for the Banquet at an ACA convention.

I can drive there in approx 6 hours with 2 quick stops.

So think about it and mark it on your calenders.

They will not have the current information up until around September but you can still check it out.

There is a slide show from this year on there and you will see 1 of last years speakers and 3 or 4 of this years CCA speakers on there.

I agree.. to me this is THE best show around, including the auction. I'm partial to the catfish convention, but this 3 day event ROCKS!! I don't make it every year, and the years I do make it, I kick myself for not going the other years.

I'm convinced, Ohio is the cichlid hotbed... and great people, also!

08 was a little down with around 280 people.

I never remember to get a picture of the halway after the banquet.

The fist floor hallway is a mass of people room surfing. Looking at the fish for sale in the rooms.
Seems funny to see 75-100 people in the hallway at midnight.

Plus, you got to have a chilli cheese dog from the hospitality suite at 2 in the morning. LOL

Got a little suprise in the mail yesterday.
I had won an award out there and they gave me a certificate.
Got a plaque in the mail. Unexpected.

Okay, so the original certificates were rather plain looking and on bright green paper.

I did not mind but people must have complained. One of the forums mentioned they looked like they were on construction paper. lol

So they looked back at them and sent these out. Woody emailed me and asked for my address. This came this week. Like I said, did not matter to me, I was just happy with the win.
